The History of Wheat

One of the first plants planted by humans is wheat. For this reason, it is considered one of the most important agricultural plants. Wheat cultivation is easier compared to other plants. It is adapted to different climatic conditions and it is the main food of most people of the world. Evidence has shown that wheat planting was done in the Middle East region around 12-17 thousand years BC and 10-15 thousand years BC in other parts of the Asian continent. Of course, nobody knows exactly when and by whom wheat was explored. Wheat was brought from these two places to Mesopotamia, Egypt and Iran. Finally, this plant was taken from Iran to other countries such as Turkestan, India, Russia and China, and then to Europe, and Europe also exported it to other countries. Wheat cultivation was done in China around 2500-3000 years BC. Some other botanists and researchers consider the primary center of wheat to be in Egypt; Because a large amount of wheat grains have been seen around the Nile River and the tombs of the ancient Egyptians.

Wheat Cultivation

Wheat Cultivation

The first step in planting wheat is preparing the land. Wheat roots grow superficially. For this reason, surface plowing (up to a depth of 25 cm) is enough to prepare the land. If there are lumps, you can use a surface disk and then level the soil using a leveler. In addition to uniform cultivation, this action is also effective in proper irrigation of the land. It is recommended to use multipurpose machines as much as possible. For example, machines that perform fertilization, disc, and seed planting at the same time are very suitable. The use of multi-purpose machines would ensure that the land is not compressed too much and cultivation is done faster and more evenly.

The Right Time to Plant Wheat

Cultivation of wheat is different based on the climate. Farmers can choose the best planting time based on regional climate and wheat variety with the help of agricultural promoters. It should be noted that the time of planting wheat is very important in the final yield of the product and economic profitability. As you know, the physiological limitation for the temperature of wheat growth is 4 degrees. Therefore, when the soil temperature drops to less than 4 degrees, the growth of wheat will stop.

Imported wheat after processing in 15 flour factories of the country, which are licensed to import, is exported to Southeast Asian countries, including China.

Which Countries Import Wheat from Iran?

Iran exports wheat to countries such as Canada, Germany, Turkey, Dubai, Netherlands, South Korea, Armenia, Russia, Iraq, Qatar and Saudi Arabia. Iran has reached self-sufficiency in terms of wheat production and can export a part of its wheat, but due to sanctions, it exports its wheat to some countries through intermediaries.
