The licorice plant is light-loving and needs warm air and moderate humidity during growth; according to these favorable conditions for the growth of this plant, fertile soils are located in low-lying lands (above sea level) that are well-drained (in areas where the water level is high). It should also have enough sun. The method of propagation of this plant is to divide the ground stem and its root. In autumn, the rhizomes of three- to four-year-old plants are divided into 15-25 cm pieces after emerging from the soil. Then these parts are planted in rows with a distance of 60 to 80 cm. The proper distance between the legs is 30 to 40 cm. After planting, watering should be done. This plant can also be propagated by planting seeds. The roots of this plant are harvested in the autumn of the third or fourth year. This operation is done using a shovel in small areas and with special machines in large areas.
