Iran's herbs and medicinal plants cover about 270,000 hectares of agricultural land, and the average productivity of these lands is 370,000 tons. The diversity of medicinal plants in Iran is about 8 thousand species so 90% of the species of medicinal plants are produced in our country. For example, the cumin plant is cultivated on 30-35 thousand hectares annually and has a profit of about 20-15 million dollars. Also, Iran now produces 70% of the world's rose and 90% of the world's saffron. In the medicinal plant and herbs industry, 400,000 people are employed in the field of medicinal plant production, and several thousand people work in companies active in this field. The producers of medicinal plants in Iran are Kohgiluyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Fars, Hamadan, Lorestan, Ardabil, Lorestan, South Khorasan, and Razavi Khorasan Provinces.
